Five Nobel Prize laureates such as Jody Williams, Mairead Corrigan, Shirin Ebadi, Adolfo P\u00e9rez Esquivel, and Elfriede Jelinek<\/strong>), imprisoned human rights defenders such as Osman Kavala and Joshua Wong<\/strong>), three former UN rapporteurs and top political personalities such as Dilma Rousseff<\/strong> and Gerry Adams<\/strong> among the 50 world-renowned signatories of “Dialogue for Catalonia<\/a>“, a manifesto that demands the end of repression in Catalonia, an amnesty for those prosecuted for defending the referendum and the Catalans\u2019 right to decide their political future.<\/p>\n Other relevant signatories include former UN Special Rapporteurs such as Ben Emmerson<\/strong> (UK) and Michel Forst<\/strong> (France); politicians such as Ronald Kasrils<\/strong> (South Africa), former minister and an activist against apartheid; Milan Kucan<\/strong>, former president of Slovenia; R\u00e9my Pagani<\/strong>, former mayor of Geneva (Switzerland); Jose Bov\u00e9<\/strong> (France), trade unionist and former MEP; cultural public figures such as the singer Joan Baez<\/strong> (US), or writers like Irvine Welsh<\/strong> (Scotland) or Lana Bastasic<\/strong> (Bosnia). Clayborn Carson<\/strong> (US), director of the Martin Luther King Jr Institute or Ramin Jahanbegloo<\/strong> (Iran), director of the Mahatma Gandhi Center for Peace; have also supported the initiative.<\/p>\n Also, activists such as Mirta Baravalle<\/strong> (founder of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, in Argentina), Guy Standing<\/strong> (British professor and researcher, co-founder of the Basic Income Network), and Lorena Z\u00e1rate<\/strong> (Argentine activist for the right to housing and President of Habitat International Coalition) have adhered to the text:<\/p>\n\n\n
