La Flama del Canigó (Canigou Flame)

Every June 23, a flame lights the bonfires of Sant Joan (Saint John) that welcome the summer with a celebration of the solstice. It is an ancestral feast, a symbol of the bond that unites the Catalan-speaking territories. Hundreds of volunteers carry the flame from the summit of Canigou (a mountain in the Catalan Pyrenees) to every bonfire around the country.
